Injury Report: LB Todd Davis to return to practice Wednesday

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Todd Davis is scheduled to return to practice Wednesday for the first time since suffering a calf injury on July 18.

Davis will participate on a limited basis, Head Coach Vic Fangio said.

"It's just been a grind," Davis said. "I've just been working back to get back with my team. It's frustrating not being able to be out there, but we're good and feeling good this week. I think the training staff has me on a good regimen and has me ready to go."

Davis said "he had some issues" with his recovery process but said everything is now resolved. He hopes to play Sunday against the Bears.

"That's my goal," Davis said. "I know the coaching staff has their plan for me, going to make sure I'm healthy and ready to go, but my plan is to be back on Sunday."

The veteran linebacker said he feels comfortable with Fangio's defense from the work he got in the spring. He is, however, still working to get back in football shape.

Davis said he started to be full speed within the last week.

"It feels really good now," Davis said. "So I feel like I'm ready to go."

Tackle Ja'Wuan James, meanwhile, will miss time after suffering a knee injury in the second quarter of Monday's game in Oakland.

"He'll miss a couple weeks to start off the bat and then from there we'll see," Fangio said.

Cornerback Bryce Callahan, who missed Monday's game with a foot injury, will not practice Wednesday. Fullback Andy Janovich (pectoral) and linebacker Joe Jones (tricep) also will not practice.
