ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos will be without safety Kareem Jackson for Saturday's game against Kansas City and could also be missing starting cornerback Pat Surtain II.
Denver placed Jackson on injured reserve on Wednesday, and Surtain did not practice. Both players were listed as non-participants on the Broncos' estimated practice report on Tuesday.
Fangio said Surtain would be "highly questionable" for the season finale.
Without Jackson, rookie Caden Sterns could step into the starting safety role. He was activated on Wednesday of the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
Head Coach Vic Fangio mentioned Michael Ojemudia, Kyle Fuller, Bryce Callahan and Nate Hairston as options to play cornerback. Callahan was also activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday.
"We'll have enough to go out there and compete and play against these guys," Fangio said.
Cornerback Ronald Darby could also be available, as he was listed as limited for the second consecutive day with a shoulder injury. He did not play in Week 17 against the Chargers.
Denver also had a pair of new players who did not practice Wednesday, as Hairston was added to the report with an illness. Shelby Harris was previously listed as limited with an ankle injury, but he did not practice on Wednesday as an illness designation was added on the report.
