ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos expect to regain a pair of defenders at practice next week.

Head Coach Sean Payton said Friday that Denver expects rookie outside linebacker Que Robinson to return to the field on Monday, while linebacker Dre Greenlaw should also practice next week.

Robinson has not practiced in recent days, and Payton said he is dealing with a bone bruise.

Greenlaw, meanwhile, suffered a quad injury on Thursday.

"He felt a tweak, but fortunately the scans were good," Payton said of Greenlaw. "We're going to be smart with bringing him back, but we see him getting work and being a part of next week. We're fortunate there."

Payton said the team will evaluate Greenlaw's movement on Monday but emphasized that it was a different injury than the one he suffered in the offseason. The Broncos hope for Greenlaw to be able to participate in their work against the 49ers in some capacity. Denver is set to compete in a joint practice with San Francisco on Aug. 7 before the team's preseason opener on Aug. 9.

"We anticipate he'll definitely be part of our plan to go to San Francisco," Payton said. "And then how much we play or practice with —when you have a joint practice, you might get reps in that and then back off the game, or vice versa. We will decide that by then."

Inside linebacker Alex Singleton (thumb) and linebacker Drew Sanders (foot) were the only other two players to not participate in Friday's practice.
