Broncos injury report: Virgil Green, Donald Stephenson ruled out against Buccaneers

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – The Denver Broncos will be without tight end Virgil Green and offensive tackle Donald Stephenson for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay as the two recover from calf injuries.

Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware will also be out as he recovers from surgery. Ware fractured his ulna in the Broncos win against the Colts.

"I don't want to say it's been a little slower than we thought," Kubiak said about Green. "We thought maybe we were looking at a game, but we're here at the end of the week. We pushed him a little bit yesterday -- I don't think we went backwards or anything -- we just didn't feel like we made enough progress to put him out there. It's a long season. Jeff [Heuerman] and John [Phillips have] got to step up again, so just trying to make the right decision by those guys."

Kubiak said both Stephenson and Green were on the right track and moved around "pretty good" on Friday.

All three players, who all missed last week's game, will travel to Tampa Bay after remaining in Denver during the Broncos' contest against Cincinnati.

Safeties Shiloh Keo and Justin Simmons are listed as questionable. Keo practiced in a limited fashion on Friday and Kubiak said he would be a game-time decision.

Simmons injured his right hand during the win over the Colts and was inactive for last weekend's game against the Bengals.

"He's got a cast on his hand, so he's capable of going," Kubiak said of Simmons. "The question is how effective can he be with that. He's practiced better with it this week than he did last week, so we'll see."
