The Broncos have completed their second interview of their head coaching search.

General Manager George Paton and the Broncos' search committee met with Packers quarterbacks/passing game coordinator Luke Getsy on Friday about the team's open head-coaching position.

Getsy, who has seven years of NFL experience, has spent the last two seasons in his current position as the Packers have posted one of the league's best offenses.

The former college quarterback joined the Packers as an offensive quality control coach in 2014 and was promoted to wide receivers coach ahead of the 2016 season. After two years working with the team's receivers, Getsy spent a season as Mississippi State's offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. The Bulldogs ranked second in the SEC in rushing offense during Getsy's lone season.

Getsy then returned to Green Bay as Packers head coach Matt LaFleur's quarterbacks coach before assuming his current role last season.

In 2020, the Packers led the league in scoring and set an NFL record for red-zone touchdown percentage (since the league began tracking the stat in 1999). For the last three years, Getsy has worked with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who earned his third career MVP award in 2020 and seems poised to win the award again in 2021.

"I asked [All-Pro wide receiver] Davante Adams a couple weeks ago about another coach," The Athletic's Matt Schneidman told DenverBroncos.com. "… They were about to play the Ravens and Keith Williams is the Ravens' pass game coordinator and he was Davante Adams' college coach … so I asked Davante, 'Has Keith Williams had the [biggest] effect on you of any coach in your career or most influence on you?' He gave a short answer of yes but then unprompted, he brought up Luke Getsy. He said, 'An unsung hero is Luke Getsy in my development' and went on to say how instrumental Getsy has been. Yeah, he works with the quarterbacks and the passing game as a whole now, but Davante Adams, who shouldn't be forgotten in all this [as] arguably the best receiver in the league, really credits Luke Getsy for his development. Aaron Rodgers also credits Luke Getsy a lot for what he's become today. So that's arguably the best quarterback and the best wide receiver in the league saying this 37-year-old pass game coordinator is a big reason for where they are today. I think that's as good of an endorsement as any."

The Broncos will reportedly interview eight more candidates for the head coaching position. Denver interviewed Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn on Thursday, and the team will reportedly interview Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on Saturday.
