ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos are breaking out an alternate uniform for a prime-time meeting with the Bengals.

For the first time this season, Denver will wear its alternate Midnight Navy jerseys as the team hosts a Week 4 "Monday Night Football" matchup.

The Broncos will announce the corresponding pant and sock colors that will accompany the jerseys later in the week.

Denver has worn its alternate Midnight Navy uniforms just once, as the team captured a thrilling "Monday Night Football" win over the Browns in Week 13 last season. The Broncos wore blue pants and blue socks in last year's matchup.

While this iteration of the team's navy jerseys is new, the Broncos have long featured the color in their rotation. The Broncos wore navy as their primary uniform from 1997-2011 and have worn navy as an alternate jersey on multiple occasions in recent years.

Peyton Manning's record-setting 509th career touchdown pass came in the navy jerseys, as did Denver's dominant 2015 "Sunday Night Football" win over the Packers en route to a Super Bowl title.

Following an offseason NFL rule change, teams are permitted to wear their alternate jerseys in as many as four games during a season. A year ago, Denver wore its Midnight Navy jerseys once and its 1977-inspired throwback uniforms for two games.
