ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have made several roster moves ahead of the team's Week 7 game against the Giants.

Denver signed defensive back J.T. Gray from the Ravens' practice squad and promoted guard Calvin Throckmorton to the active roster, the team announced Tuesday.

In addition, the Broncos also announced they signed offensive lineman Karsen Barnhart and defensive end Garrett Nelson to their practice squad.

In corresponding moves, the Broncos placed tackle Matt Peart and linebacker Garret Wallow on injured reserve and designated wide receiver Thayer Thomas as practice squad/injured.

Gray, an eighth-year player, is a decorated special-teams player who was named a first-team All-Pro and a Pro Bowler in 2021, and he earned second-team All-Pro recognition in 2019 and 2024.

In 2021, Gray led the NFL in special-teams tackles with 16. He also tied for the league lead in 2024 with 10 tackles, and he blocked a punt.

Across 98 games in his first seven seasons, Gray recorded 103 total tackles, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, 2.5 sacks, two quarterback hits, one tackle for loss and a pass defensed. In each of the last four years, he has also played at least 79 percent of his team's special-teams snaps across the games in which he appeared.

Both Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton and Special Teams Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach Darren Rizzi have familiarity with Gray, as the defensive back played four seasons for Payton and six for Rizzi. After spending his first seven NFL seasons with the Saints, the Mississippi State product joined the Ravens' practice squad in September.

Throckmorton, a fifth-year player, has appeared in 49 games with 27 starts since entering the league in 2021. He spent most of the first six weeks of the season on Denver's practice squad before being elevated for the Broncos' Week 6 game against the Jets.

A former second-team All-Big Ten player at Michigan, Barnhart entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Chargers.

Nelson competed with the Broncos previously during training camp and in preseason action, when he recorded five total tackles, half a sack and a quarterback hit in three games.

Peart appeared in six games this season and made his first start of the year against the Jets. He filled in for guard Ben Powers, who was previously placed on injured reserve. Wallow, a reserve linebacker, appeared in five games for Denver and played 63 percent of the special-teams snaps in the games he played.
