The Denver Broncos will host the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. MT on CBS.
MATCHUP
The Broncos (15-3) are one game away from a trip to Super Bowl LX. The top-seeded Broncos pulled out a thrilling 33-30 win over the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round and will now host the New England Patriots (16-3) in the AFC Championship Game with a Super Bowl berth on the line.
Denver is poised to host its eighth AFC Championship Game in team history, and the Broncos have posted a 6-1 mark in home conference title games. The resilient Broncos, who earned their 13th comeback win and 12th one-score victory of the season against Buffalo, will look to respond after losing starting quarterback Bo Nix to a season-ending ankle injury. Jarrett Stidham is poised to step into the starting role, and the Broncos will aim to tie a franchise record with 10 home victories in a single season.
The Patriots, who enter the game after forcing five turnovers in a win over the Texans, stand in the Broncos' way. Led by MVP candidate Drake Maye, the Patriots will travel to Empower Field at Mile High for the third conference championship meeting between the two teams since 2013. The Broncos won those two previous AFC Championship Games against New England, and Denver holds a 4-0 all-time home postseason record against the Patriots.
Denver's defense, which forced five turnovers of its own against reigning MVP Josh Allen and the Bills, will look to continue its takeaway success entering the AFC Championship Game. After forcing 12 takeaways through their first 16 games, the Broncos have now forced seven â three interceptions and four fumble recoveries â in their last two games. The Broncos' plus-four turnover margin is tied for first among playoff teams despite playing just one game.
With a win, the Broncos would earn their ninth AFC Championship in franchise history and continue on the path toward a fourth Lombardi Trophy.
INJURY UPDATE
The Broncos will release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday. Stay tuned for more updates.
