ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have made a defensive roster move as training camp continues.

Denver signed outside linebacker Garrett Nelson and placed rookie outside linebacker Johnny Walker on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.

Nelson, who played collegiately at Nebraska from 2019-22, recorded 167 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and four passes defensed while with the Cornhuskers.

He more recently played for the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas and recorded 15 tackles, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble in eight games in 2025. Nelson also played for the Brahmas in 2024.

In 2023, Nelson spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals. He recorded five defensive tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit across three preseason games with the Dolphins. He has not appeared in a regular-season game.

The Broncos signed Walker as a college free agent from Missouri in early May.
