Broncos release initial unofficial 2021 depth chart: Bridgewater, Lock listed as co-starters

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos released their first unofficial depth chart of the season on Tuesday, and it should come as no surprise that it provides no clarity at the quarterback position.

Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock were listed as co-starters, which was one of two positions on the roster to have two players listed for a single starting spot. Tackles Calvin Anderson and Bobby Massie were jointly listed for the team's right tackle position.

Head Coach Vic Fangio said Tuesday that there had not been much separation between the quarterbacks. Lock will start Saturday's preseason game in Minnesota, while Bridgewater will take the first snaps in Seattle the following week.

Anderson and Massie have also split snaps during the early days of training camp as the Broncos look for a starting right tackle.

The rest of Denver's depth chart is similarly void of surprises.

New additions Kyle Fuller and Ronald Darby are listed as starters at left and right cornerback, respectively. First-round pick Pat Surtain II is listed as Fuller's backup, while veteran Bryce Callahan is on the two-deep behind Darby.

No Broncos rookies are listed as starters, but a few are listed as second-string players. Running back Javonte Williams is listed as the Broncos' backup behind Melvin Gordon III, and Quinn Meinerz is listed as the backup at center and right guard. Undrafted rookie Adam Prentice is noted as Andrew Beck's backup at fullback.

On defense, seventh-round pick Jonathon Cooper is listed as Bradley Chubb's backup at weakside linebacker and is ahead of Derrek Tuszka, Andre Mintze and Pita Taumoepenu on the depth chart.

Fifth-round safeties Caden Sterns and Jamar Johnson are listed as third-string players behind Trey Marshall at free safety and P.J. Locke at strong safety, respectively.

Other positions of note:

  • Cam Fleming is listed as the backup left tackle behind Garett Bolles.
  • Albert Okwuegbunam is listed ahead of Eric Saubert at tight end.
  • Wide receivers Kendall Hinton and Trinity Benson are listed ahead of sixth-round pick Seth Williams. Similarly, seventh-round pick Marquiss Spencer remains near the bottom of the depth chart at defensive end.
  • Behind Fuller, Darby, Callahan and Surtain, Michael Ojemudia and Parnell Motley are the next two cornerbacks listed on the depth chart.
  • KJ Hamler is listed as the backup punt returner behind Diontae Spencer. Tyrie Cleveland is listed as the reserve kick returner.

Please see below for the Broncos' complete first unofficial depth chart. Players whose names are in brackets are currently on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.
