ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos made a series of roster moves Monday to get closer to the NFL's new mandated 80-man roster limit in order to conduct full-squad training camp practices.

The Broncos waived defensive back Kahani Smith, quarterback Riley Neal, linebacker Tre' Crawford, wide receiver Kelvin McKnight, running back Khalfani Muhammad, defensive back Shakial Taylor and center Nico Falah.

Denver also released defensive end Joel Heath.

As part of the league's agreement with the NFL Players Association, teams are required to reduce their 90-man roster to 80 players by either July 28 or Aug. 16.

If teams choose to keep more than 80 players on their roster after July 28, they must split their roster into two groups for the first phase of training camp. The teams would still need to reduce their roster to 80 players by Aug. 16.

After Monday's transactions, the Broncos' roster sits at 82 players.
