ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- **Defensive end Kenny Anunike will have his knee scoped after missing a second consecutive day of practice, Head Coach Gary Kubiak said Wednesday.
Anunike was on the sideline Tuesday because of swelling in the knee. Kubiak said that he was unsure whether it was the same knee on which Anunike had two reconstructive surgeries.
"It swelled up on him, and they made a decision to scope it tomorrow and see where they're at. That's all I can tell you," Kubiak said.
He said he expects to learn more Thursday afternoon about the cause of the swelling.
Anunike had been enjoying an outstanding training camp, capped by a terrific game in Seattle last Friday in which he notched eight tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
His entire football career has been defined by overcoming injuries, including an elbow injury that forced him to injured reserve last year. He's endured four left knee surgeries, including one to repair a torn ACL and MCL suffered in 2011, and was granted a rare sixth year of college eligibility at Duke because of the time he lost to injuries.
