ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Vonster is back.

Outside linebacker Von Miller has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month after posting four sacks and leading the league in tackles for loss in September.

Miller has now won AFC Player of the Month honors four times in his NFL career. He last won the honor in September of 2016.

Miller, who ranks fourth in the NFL in sacks, has recorded at least one sack in all three of the Broncos' games and has a league-leading six tackles for loss. He's also added six quarterback hits, 12 quarterback hurries and eight tackles (six solo) as he's helped Denver to a 3-0 start to the season.

The Broncos' star pass-rusher has helped Denver post the league's best scoring defense (8.7 points per game) and second-best total defense (221.7 yards per game) in the season's opening month.

Miller has enjoyed that production despite playing without Pro Bowler Bradley Chubb on the opposite side. Chubb did not play Week 1 and tallied just 19 defensive snaps in Week 2 before exiting the game. He was placed on IR ahead of Week 3.

With six more sacks on the season, Miller would post the eighth double-digit sack season of his career and the first since 2018. Miller missed the entire 2020 season with an ankle injury.
