ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos are not done adding competition to the right tackle position.
According to reports from 9News’ Mike Klis and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Broncos are signing tackle Cameron Fleming to a one-year contract.
Fleming, a 2014 fourth-round pick by the New England Patriots, has started 42 games during his seven-year NFL career. In 2020, during his lone season with the Giants, he started all 16 games at right tackle.
Before signing with the Giants, Fleming started six games over two years with the Cowboys and appeared in 28 total games.
During his four seasons in New England to start his career, Fleming started 20 games and appeared in 47.
A 6-foot-6, 320-pound player, Fleming should compete for the starting right tackle job that became open when the Broncos placed Ja'Wuan James on the non-football injury list.
The Broncos signed Bobby Massie to a one-year contract on Wednesday, and they added former undrafted free agent Ryan Pope to the roster earlier that day. Massie has started 110 games since being drafted in 2012.
According to the reports, Fleming is expected to join Massie, Pope, starting left tackle Garett Bolles and Quinn Bailey at tackle on the Broncos' active roster. Calvin Anderson is expected to be on the team, as well, after he was tendered as an exclusive rights free agent in March.
The Broncos are slated to play Fleming's former team, the Giants, in Week 1 of the 2021 season.
