ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --After sitting out Wednesday's work because of an ankle injury, inside linebacker Corey Nelson returned to practice Thursday as the Broncos continued their preparations for Sunday's game in Cincinnati.

Nelson was held out Wednesday as a precautionary measure.

Three Broncos injured in last Sunday's win over the Colts remained sidelined: tight end Virgil Green (calf), offensive lineman Donald Stephenson (calf) and outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (forearm). Ware underwent surgery Tuesday to have plates placed in his arm.

Safety Justin Simmons also practiced once again Thursday despite having his left wrist and arm in a soft cast. Simmons fractured his wrist early in last Sunday's game but played through it.

Tight end Jeff Heuerman, offensive lineman Ty Sambrailo and wide receiver Bennie Fowler also continued to practice Thursday. None of the three has played in the regular season because of lingering injuries from training camp, but Sambrailo and Heuerman were well enough to play Sunday vs. Indianapolis if needed.
