ENFIELD, U.K. — It's time to refocus.
The Broncos earned a dramatic, come-from-behind win in Week 5 against the defending Super Bowl champions. Trailing 17-3 entering the fourth quarter, the Broncos rattled off 18 unanswered points to capture a statement win.
And as the Broncos began practicing at Tottenham Hotspur Training Ground on Wednesday, the team was ready to put all of that behind them.
"We definitely have to get honed in, get back focused and move onto the next game," outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper said. "You can't live on this game and be like 'Wow, we beat the Eagles' and carry that into the week. No, it's time to [say], 'OK, flush that one, process it, review it, learn from it and then on to the next one.'
"Keep going, keep going, keep stacking, not take anyone for granted, not look past anybody, look over anybody. It's a week-to-week basis. It's just getting over this and onto the next one. We have to refocus."
Head Coach Sean Payton emphasized the Broncos' weekly challenge is to hone in "on the next challenge," and that each Sunday's game can be won or lost during the week of practice.
"I understand the significance of last week's win relative to the opponent," Payton said. "They're all units. The first objective is to win the division, the second is to improve your seeding and then last play for a championship. That hasn't changed. Just as we try to digest a loss and then flip the page, the same has to be said with a win. I think we have the right makeup and leadership to understand where the focus needs to be this week.
"I like that we're over here [in London]. I couldn't tell you or point in the direction where the hotel is, and that's fine. I'm still trying to figure out how to get around in the hotel. It's the perfect setup. I like coming over here."
The Broncos' next challenge will be against a Jets team that is still seeking its first win but has lost a trio of one-score games through the first five weeks of the season.
"They're a good football team," quarterback Bo Nix said. "They've been close on some games. They were a couple of walk-off plays away from having two or three wins. I definitely think that is something you've got to be careful with. This is not a team to just toss around like they're winless, but I think we will be ready to go."
On Sunday against the Jets, Denver will aim to earn its second consecutive road win and its third consecutive victory. The Broncos and Chargers currently hold the same record atop the AFC West, and Denver can keep pace by posting its third winning streak of at least three games since Nix became the starter. Denver would also earn its first consecutive road wins since Weeks 4 & 7 last year.
"You try to keep it the exact same, but it's hard when they uproot you," Nix said. "… Resources have changed and locations have changed, so you try to make do with what you've got, but it's definitely not going to be a normal week. So, good thing I'm not superstitious or anything."
In a new environment, the Broncos will aim to reset their focus — and earn the same result as a week ago.
