Bieniemy, who has Colorado ties as the Buffaloes all-time leading rusher, has been a perennial head-coaching candidate in recent years as an integral part of the Chiefs' offensive staff. While head coach Andy Reid is the primary play-caller for Kansas City's innovative offense, Bieniemy serves an important role in that process and has invaluable leadership qualities, as Patrick Mahomes has said.

A former Broncos assistant coach for six years, including Denver's Super Bowl 50 season, Callahan has served as the Bengals' offensive coordinator for three years. In 2021, the Bengals' offense improved to eighth in scoring after ranking 29th in 2020. Like Bieniemy, Callahan may not be the primary play-caller behind an offensive-minded head coach, but he still has an important role in that process, especially in communication, as Taylor has spoken about previously.

Update: The Broncos completed an interview with Callahan on Thursday, Jan. 20.

Current position: Defensive coordinator, Detroit Lions (2021-present)

A former three-time Pro Bowl cornerback who played 15 years in the NFL with the Jets, Texans, Cowboys, Jaguars and Saints, Glenn has now been in the coaching ranks for eight seasons. He also has some background in scouting, as he spent two seasons with the Jets as a personnel scout. In his lone season as the defensive coordinator for the Lions, Detroit's stats may not look great, but they've made improvements in several areas from 2020, when they ranked last in scoring and total defense.
Update: Glenn completed an interview with the Broncos on Thursday, the team announced.
Current position: Offensive coordinator, Green Bay Packers (2019-present)

Known for his energetic leadership, Hackett has led Green Bay's offense, which ranked No. 1 in scoring and No. 5 in yards in 2020 and 10th in both in 2021. He also helped lead Jacksonville to an AFC Championship appearance in 2017 with a top-10 offense with quarterback Blake Bortles.

One of just two reported candidates without NFL coordinator experience, Mayo is a former Super Bowl champion, Pro Bowler and All-Pro linebacker who transitioned to a coaching career not long after his playing career ended after the 2015 season. Mayo's role, though, is bigger than may be understood by just his job title, as NBC Sports Boston's Tom Curran writes, and his leadership and football knowledge is unquestioned.

Update: Mayo has completed his interview for the position, the Broncos announced on Jan. 19.
Current position: Offensive coordinator, Dallas Cowboys (2019-present)

A former NFL quarterback, Moore moved quickly into coaching after his playing career and has been one of the most-talked about offensive coordinators in recent years. In his three seasons as Dallas' offensive coordinator, the Cowboys have ranked in the league's top 10 in passing yards each year, and the offense as a whole has been the most productive in the league in two of those seasons.

The only former head coach on this reported group of candidates, Quinn led the Falcons to Super Bowl LI for just its second Super Bowl appearance in nearly 60 years. As a defensive coordinator, Quinn has been among the league's best; in his two seasons in that role with the Seahawks from 2013-14, Seattle ranked No. 1 in scoring and total defense in back-to-back seasons. In his first year back as a defensive coordinator, Quinn has helped the Cowboys improve to seventh in scoring defense (from 28th in 2020), 16th in rushing defense (from 31st) and first in takeaways (from seventh).
