ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos placed safety Su'a Cravens on their injured reserve list on Sunday.

The team signed wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie to its 53-man roster in a corresponding roster move.

Cravens battled knee soreness during much of the preseason before returning to practice ahead of the Broncos' final preseason game. He played 23 snaps on defense and five special teams snaps vs. the Cardinals.

Following the game, Head Coach Vance Joseph said he was impressed with Cravens' physicality.

"He was in the box, he was a physical tackler and he showed that tonight," Joseph said Thursday. "It was good to get him back on the field and play some live football before, obviously, the real deal starts."

Now, Cravens must wait at least eight weeks until he can return to the field for the Broncos. He would be eligible to return in Week 9 against the Houston Texans.

Cravens' injury, though, gives McKenzie a second chance with the team after being waived on Saturday.

McKenzie joins Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton and Tim Patrick at wide receiver. He will likely back up Adam Jones at punt returner.
