ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos may have found a veteran quarterback to back up Drew Lock.

The Broncos reportedly agreed to terms on a two-year deal with Jeff Driskel on Tuesday, according to multiple media reports.

The move cannot be made official until the league year begins at 2 p.m. MT on Wednesday, March 18.

Driskel, a former sixth-round pick, has appeared in 12 career regular season games since he was drafted in 2016.

In 2018, he appeared in nine games for the Bengals and made five starts. Driskel completed 59.7 percent of his passes as he threw for 1,003 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.

A year later, Driskel started three games for the Lions and threw for 685 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. He completed 59 percent of his passes that season.

Driskel's first start of his career coincidentally came against the Broncos. He completed 25-of-37 passes for 236 yards, one touchdown and an interception in a 2018 Denver win.

The former Florida Gator is known for his athleticism, which has made him a dual threat during his NFL career. He has carried the ball 47 times for 281 yards and three touchdowns in his 12 games, averaging 6.0 yards per carry. In 2019, Driskel ran the ball an average of 7.3 times per game.

The 26-year-old player would join second-year quarterbacks Drew Lock and Brett Rypien and veteran quarterback Joe Flacco on the Broncos' roster.

President of Football Operations/GM John Elway has previously indicated that Lock will be the Broncos' starter in 2020.

At the 2020 NFL Combine, Elway said he preferred to find a veteran to back up Lock because of the youth at the position.

Driskel is the second player to be linked to the Broncos in free agency. The Broncos on Monday reportedly agreed to terms with OL Graham Glasgow.

The Broncos also reportedly agreed to trade for Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye earlier this month.
