Cheerleader Q&A: Katie B.

Katie B.
2nd season
Hometown: Denver, CO

What is your favorite part about being a Broncos cheerleader?
"I think that's a trick question. I think there are so many amazing facets to being a part of this program from community outreach to constantly getting to work with different organizations. We get to help at charity events and work with children, which is what I love doing. In our juniors program, getting to work with them one to two times a month and getting to teach them routines and to be working on character building and I love being on that field but there's so much more to it. I love getting involved with the fan interaction and all that."

Why did you try out for the Broncos?
"I'm a Denver native. I think I was five or six when my dad brought me to my first Broncos game. I didn't watch the football players, I watched the cheerleaders the whole time. I started dancing when I was three and it was just a dream of mine to always be out on that field and supporting a team that I loved so I danced since I was three years old. I danced competitively all through high school and college and on an NBA team."

On most memorable moment
"Yes, we got to go to the Super Bowl. But there was a moment we were in the fourth quarter of the AFC Championship Game and I was in the southeast end zone and my parents were right in front of me. I could see them and there was about two minutes left, thinking about it gives me chills. But we looked up at the clock and we knew we were going to the Super Bowl. It was the coolest because I could see them and my dad gave me a thumbs up and I just started crying and all my teammates were there next to me and we started jumping up and down and hugging each other and crying and yelling 'We're going to the Super Bowl!' I have the chills, it was the coolest."

What is your favorite book?
"I just read "Eat, Pray, Love." I've travelled my whole life so that kind of resonated with me- just getting to go travel and experience different cultures and I love getting to experience new things like that."

Who is your favorite Bronco?
"I have to say Peyton Manning. I respect him so much as an athlete but so much as person as well."

What do you do for fun outside of cheerleading?
"I'm very busy. I stay so busy with school and coaching. I'm constantly in classrooms getting observation hours but when I do have some down time, I love to take yoga classes or to go for a walk with my dog. I love spending time with my family and my friends and my boyfriend. Getting to just hang out with my family and relax on my couch is one of my favorite pastimes, I don't get it very often."

If you could go on vacation anywhere, where would you go?
"I've travelled extensively. But if I could travel anywhere at this point in time, I would love to go to Cairo. I want to go see the pyramids in Egypt and I would love to ride on a camel."

Who is your hero?
"My hero is my dad. He's been such an inspiration to me my whole live. He's always supported me in everything that I do and he inspires me in more ways than he'll ever know. He's just an incredible role model and someone I absolutely want to be like when I grow up."
