ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — With outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett expected to miss several weeks with a hip injury, the Broncos made a move Friday to bolster their pass rush.

Denver promoted OLB Jeff Holland from the practice squad to the active roster, the team announced Friday. He joins Von Miller, Bradley Chubb and Shane Ray as healthy options at outside linebacker.

The Broncos waived rookie linebacker Alexander Johnson in a corresponding roster move.

Holland, a rookie out of Auburn, was selected as a First-Team All-SEC player following his junior season in which he tallied the second-most sacks in the SEC. The 6-foot-2, 249-pound player turned pro following that 2017 campaign.

After joining the Broncos for offseason workouts and training camp, Holland has competed on the Broncos' practice squad for the entire 2018 season. In four preseason games with the Broncos, Holland recorded two sacks.
