Cheerleader Journal: Lindsey

Hola from Playa del Carmen, Mexico! I'm Lindsey and this is my fourth season as a Denver Broncos Cheerleader. We've been soaking up the sun on the beautiful beaches in Playa del Carmen for the past few days.

Apple Vacations prepared all of our travel arrangements, so quickly upon arriving in Cancun we were on our bus to the Riu Palace Mexico. We checked in and explored the hotel grounds and were blown away by what the hotel had to offer. After dinner, a few of us went on a run on the beach and then we were off to bed early for a few hours of sleep.

There were five of us up bright and early at 2:30 a.m. to get our hair and makeup done for our photo shoots. Once we were ready, we loaded up the buses and drove to the Xcaret eco-archaeological Park, a short drive from our hotel.

They opened up Xcaret early for all of the cheerleaders and staff to shoot with the beautiful scenery. First, Ashley and Michelle shot their photos in a lagoon, just as the sun began to rise. They did an amazing job and we were all in awe by their beautiful pictures. Next, it was my turn to get in front of the camera.

My photo was taken underneath a waterfall at the beginning of an underground river. The breathtaking scenery was unlike anything I had seen before. I was excited I had the opportunity to take my photo and such a unique place. I had so much fun at my shoot and the cool waterfall was a nice break from the heat and humidity of the day.

Next up, Emily took a stunning photo at the entrance of a Mayan hut. Finally, Gioia wrapped up the day with a bang. She took her photo inside a flamingo wildlife enclosure, with flamingos walking all around her.

The rest of the day was left for us to explore some of the features the park had to offer. We floated through an underground river, went on a waterslide, played on a rope course, ate a fantastic lunch and relaxed on the beach. We also saw marine turtles, manatees and parrots. Xcaret had so much to offer and I know that the next time that I go back I will definitely be visiting the butterfly pavilion, aviary and coral reef.

I can´t wait to see what else is in store for us on this amazing trip. I will keep you posted on Twitter @DBC_lindsey with more highlights of our time here in Mexico!
