Broncos to host annual Back to Football 7K on Sept. 4

DENVER**— The Denver Broncos and partners Children's Hospital Colorado, UCHealth, 24 Hour Fitness, King Soopers and 9News are excited to announce the fourth annual Broncos 7K that will take place at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Sunday, Sept. 4, beginning at 8:30 a.m. MDT.

As a part of the Broncos' Health & Wellness initiative, the event is targeted at football fans, running enthusiasts and everyone in between with proceeds from the race benefitting the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD).

Taking place the weekend before the Broncos' NFL Kickoff Game vs. Carolina on Thursday, Sept. 8, the Broncos 7K invites fans to experience the beautiful Sloan's Lake neighborhood, run through the Broncos horsehead inflatable tunnel and finish the race on the 50-yard line at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

"The city of Denver boasts a passionate Broncos fan base that extends well beyond gameday," Denver Broncos Director of Marketing Ted Santiago said. "In addition, we have a very athletic community in the Denver area making the Broncos 7K that much more appealing."

All participants will receive a commemorative 'World Champions' finisher's medal that resembles the Broncos' Super Bowl 50 rings and a Broncos jersey-style T-shirt. They will also have the opportunity to participate in additional race festivities, including a Kids' Fun Run, raffle prizes and post-race food and drinks.

On race day, registration and packet pickup will begin at 6:30 a.m., with the Broncos 7K starting at 8:30 a.m. (waves will be released every 5-10 minutes). The Kids' Fun Run, presented by Children's Hospital Colorado, begins at 11 a.m. followed up with awards for the 7K scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

All participants and spectators of the Broncos 7K are also invited to attend the second annual Broncos Health & Wellness Expo. Hosted by the Denver Broncos and 9News, the Expo will be held on the concourse level of Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Sunday, Sept. 4, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. The family-friendly, free public expo, will feature sponsors and exhibitors with products, services and activities promoting safe and healthy lifestyles. Key content elements of the expo will include:

  • Medical information
  • 9Health Fair health tests and screenings
  • Family-friendly sports activities
  • Multiple presentation stages
  • Broncos player and celebrity appearances
  • Autograph sessions along with meet and greets
  • Contests and giveaways
  • Appearance by 9News talent

About NSCD The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) began in 1970 as a one-time ski lesson for children with amputations for the Children's Hospital of Denver. Today, the NSCD is one of the largest outdoor therapeutic recreation agencies in the world. Each year NSCD serves 3,000 children and adults with disabilities who partake in the more than 20 sports and recreational programs, from snow skiing and kayaking to rafting and rock climbing.
