The best of what's around: Mason's top 50 free agents still on the market

We're now into the second wave of free agency, where prices go down, the risk of a crippling contract declines and values exist. This is also where you see first-wave talent that drops because of injury or character concerns.

But teams can still help themselves in the coming weeks.

"This is a process that goes all the way through until the trading deadline," Executive Vice President/General Manager John Elway said last week. "It's a process. It just slows down. Now you get out of the frenzy of everything, and you can get back to reality and try to find some good football players."

Who are the top players outside of Denver still on the market? Let's take a look ...

Interest in Hardy is beginning to pick up, but the massive character concerns and a potential suspension will hold down his price tag -- and the length of his contract.

2. C STEFEN WISNIEWSKI, OAKLAND(Last week's rank: No. 14)
Visited Seattle over the weekend; after the Seahawks dealt Max Unger to the Saints, that might be his most obvious potential landing spot.

3. ILB ROLANDO McCLAIN, DALLAS(Last week's rank: No. 34)
The lack of interest from teams reveals skepticism over whether his 2014 comeback was the start of something or just an aberration.

4. G JUSTIN BLALOCK, EX-ATLANTA(Last week's rank: No. 41)
Reportedly visited with the Titans this week and should end up with a starting spot somewhere -- but perhaps only a 1- or 2-year contract given his age (31), but he is durable and has missed just one game in the last seven seasons.

Reportedly visited with Cleveland over the weekend. Maligned after a season without touchdowns, he hasn't had a 1,000-yard season since 2011, and the Browns offer less quarterback stability than the Chiefs did for most of his eight years in the NFL.

6. DT C.J. MOSLEY, DETROIT(Last week's rank: No. 48)
He's not young (31), but the reports that he was sent home from the Lions' London trip because he was caught with marijuana in his hotel room appear to have more of an impact on his status.

7. WR MICHAEL CRABTREE, SAN FRANCISCO(Last week's rank: No. 49)
May have overestimated his market given his good, but not great production as a 49er, but interest in him increased over the weekend and he should find a spot as a No. 2 receiver.

8. OT JAKE LONG, EX-ST. LOUIS(Unranked last week)
The No. 1 overall talent is still there, but he missed nine games last season because of a second torn ACL in as many years and has not played a full 16-game schedule since 2010, landing on injured reserve each year since 2011.

9. C/G CHRIS MYERS, EX-HOUSTON(Last week's rank: No. 50)
Still an effective starter, but his size and skill set could limit his options to teams that emphasize zone blocking.

10. LB BRANDON SPIKES, BUFFALO  (Last week's rank: No. 54)
In the right role -- as a two-down linebacker -- he's efficient and effective. Seems likely to still end up as a starter somewhere.

  1. RB Knowshon Moreno, Miami (Last week's rank: No. 55)
    1. CB Rashean Mathis, Detroit (Last week's rank: No. 57) -- RE-SIGNED WITH DETROIT

    14. LB Mason Foster, Tampa Bay (Last week's rank: No. 95)
    15. S Dawan Landry, N.Y. Jets (Last week's rank: No. 99)
