Super Bowl Postcards: Don't Lose Your Ticket

NEW YORK --There are two places in New York and New Jersey this weekend at which you can't afford to lose your ticket: MetLife Stadium and Katz's Delicatessen.

The phrase "LOST TICKET FEES APPLY" at the bottom of your ticket is one to be taken seriously. The penalty is $50 -- two and a half times the cost of my pastrami on rye with a diet soda, or more than the fee if you lose your ticket when you park in the garage for a pick-up or drop-off at Denver International Airport.

"HEY, YOUR TICKET!" barked the man behind the deli counter when I haphazardly stepped away with my sandwich and two pickles on a plate. Snapped to attention, I got the message.

The hot, fresh sliced meat and brown mustard were heavenly. But I fretted and obsessed about my ticket. This was solitary meal; no company at my table, like several others throughout the deli. Just me and my sandwich -- and the festering fear that it would fall off the table, be swept up by one of the many busboys around the restaurant and turn my meal into a pricey event worthy of filet mignon.

I obsess over matters like these when I'm alone. It's not healthy. But then again, neither is the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had.
