Short Week Yields Solid Results

OAKLAND, Calif. –Though the short week left the Broncos a bit shorthanded, the team went on the road and brought its eight consecutive win back to Denver.

"Both teams had to deal with it," Head Coach John Fox said. "We were the road team, but any time you can go on the road against a division rival and get a victory, I'm pleased."

Guard Chris Kuper was downgraded from probable to questionable in the morning before the game with an ankle injury. After the game, Fox said that if the game would have been on Sunday, Kuper would have likely been able to suit up.

"It was a little bit sore for him and on a short week, I think maybe if it was a Sunday game we were talking about instead of a Thursday night game, he could have been ready," Fox said. "We expect him to improve moving forward."

Quarterback Peyton Manning improved to 8-1 in his career on Thursday nights, but said the games have gotten more difficult as he's gotten older.

"These Thursday night games are tough, especially late in the year," the 36-year old quarterback said. "I know I'm tired. I'm sure some of our older players, (wide receiver Brandon) Stokley, (linebacker Keith) Brooking – these games were easier when you were 25 or 26 playing on these Thursday Night games."
