ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – After throwing four touchdowns on Sunday and setting a new franchise record for completions, quarterback Peyton Manning has again been nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the week.
Manning finished the game against Tennessee with 397 yards and completed 39-of-59 attempts and did not throw an interception. Each of his four touchdown passes in the win went to a different receiver. The 59 attempts set a new career high for Manning.
"You never plan for 95 plays," Manning said after the Tennessee win. "Defense had 45 plays and they settled down and did a good job on third down getting them off the field. We had a lot of first downs. I don't know how many, but we were first-down, second-down, first-down. When you're in that kind of rhythm it puts a lot of pressure on the defense."
With three games left in the season, Manning has thrown 45 touchdown passes this year – tied for the fifth-most touchdowns in a season. His current pace would give him 55 touchdowns which would set a new single season record.
Manning has received the award three times already this season as he won in Weeks 1 and 3 and again last week in Week 13. Manning and Saints quarterback Drew Brees have both won the award three times – more than anyone else – and are both nominees for the award again this week.
