DENVER — The Denver Broncos will begin the final phase of their field renovations at Sports Authority Field at Mile High with the installation of their new sod surface on Wednesday.

Upgrades to the playing surface, which began in early February, are being done in partnership with Sports Contracting Group (SCG) and Millennium Sports Technologies (MSG).

The new playing surface, consisting of 100 percent Kentucky bluegrass sod, was grown by Graff's Turf Farms in Fort Morgan, Colo. It will replace the original synthetic blend surface that had been in place since Sports Authority Field at Mile High opened in 2001.

The first event on the new field will be the Denver Outlaws' home opener against the Charlotte Hounds on Sunday, May 3.

In addition to the Broncos and Outlaws, several other teams will benefit from the field upgrades, including local college and high school football and lacrosse programs scheduled to play at the stadium.
