Manning Named Captain of All-Fundamentals Team

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – **The list of awards and accolades for Peyton Manning's record breaking season continues to grow. Most recently, Manning was named the Offensive Captain on USA Football's 2013 All-Fundamentals Team.

This is the fifth annual All-Fundamentals Team which is designed to honor 11 offensive and 11 defensive players as well as four special team players who "exhibit exemplary football techniques for youth players to emulate."

USA Football praised Manning's ability to read defenses and his strong footwork. Those fundamentals lead to one of the best seasons in the history of the NFL. The Broncos set the record this regular season for the most points with 606. Manning set new records in both passing yards and passing touchdowns and the Broncos became the first team to have four players with at least 10 touchdowns

The All-Fundamentals team is assembled with the guidance of a five-person committee that includes former players, coaches and analysts but Manning was voted captain by fans throughout the month of January.

The defensive captain as selected by a fan vote was Buffalo defensive tackle Kyle Williams and the special teams captain was Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos. Each captain will receive and equipment grant of $3,000 to donate to the youth or high school program of their choice.

According to USA Football, the official youth football development partner of the Broncos and the NFL, about three million kids between the ages of six and 14 play organized tackle football. USA Football has trained more than 100,000 coaches in the effort to get younger players using fundamentals that both advance the player's safety and their performance.
