First-half update: Broncos erase two-TD deficit

**

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —** After giving up two touchdowns in a matter of minutes, the Broncos showed their heart by evening the score in quick succession to cap the first half.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Chiefs drove 78 yards for a touchdown, scoring on a 34-yard Jamaal Charles rush. On the ensuing Broncos drive, Chiefs CB Marcus Peters returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown.

The daunting deficit would be cut in half on an 80-yard drive after that, with Peyton Manning connecting with Emmanuel Sanders on key plays before ultimately getting in the end zone on a slant route by Sanders.

With 2:30 left in the half, the Chiefs looked to bounce back but QB Alex Smith would be intercepted by CB Aqib Talib. The play would set the Broncos up with a short field, and Manning would capitalize on a pass over the middle in the back of the end zone to TE Virgil Green.
