Divisional Round Options Narrowed

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --It's down to two.

The candidates for the Broncos' Divisional-Round opponent were narrowed down Saturday evening, as the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Kansas City Chiefs at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Indianapolis' comeback win means the Broncos will face either the Colts or the San Diego Chargers next Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

The deciding factor will be whether the No. 6 seed Chargers -- who face the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium at 11:05 a.m. MST Sunday -- pull off an upset of the No. 3 seed.

As the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs, the Broncos will face the lowest remaining seed in the Divisional Round. So if the Chargers win, they will head to Denver for the third matchup this season. If they lose, the Colts will come to Denver for a rematch of Week 7 this season and the Cincinnati Bengals will travel to New England.

Denver and San Diego have never squared off in the postseason.

If the Colts are the opponent, it would be the third playoff matchup between the two squads. In both 2003 and 2004, the Broncos lost in the Wild Card Round to Peyton Manning-led Indianapolis.

Denver's Divisional Round game is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. MST on Sunday, January 12.
