Broncos claim DL Jimmy Bean off waivers, waive CB Dontrell Nelson

**

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. —** Former Raiders defensive lineman Jimmy Bean joined the Broncos on Saturday via a waiver-wire claim, adding more depth to the Broncos' defensive line, which is dealing with injuries to starters Jared Crick (back) and Derek Wolfe (ankle).

In a corresponding roster move, the Broncos waived rookie cornerback Dontrell Nelson.

The first-year lineman was waived Thursday by Oakland after the Raiders reinstated tackle Donald Penn to their active roster. Oakland had placed Penn on their Reserve/Did Not Report List during his 26-day holdout.

Bean originally joined the Raiders as a practice-squad signing in 2016 after going undrafted out of Oklahoma State. He was projected to be a mid-day draft pick during his senior season in 2015, but he suffered an ACL injury after eight games that sidelined him for the remainder of the year. He finished with 13.5 sacks, one pass breakup, 10 quarterback hits and three forced fumbles in his college career.
