Biography

A four-time Pro Bowler (1973-75, '78) and three-time Associated Press All-Pro (1974-75, '77) with the Broncos, Riley Odoms was elected into the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame in 2024 alongside safety Steve Foley. Odoms' four Pro Bowl selections are the second-most among Broncos' tight ends in team history, and he is just 1-of-13 players in franchise annals to earn multiple first-team All-Pro honors from the Associated Press. During his 12-year career, all of which were spent in Denver, Odoms combined for 396 receptions for 5,755 yards (14.5 avg.) with 41 touchdowns along with 25 rushes for 211 yards (8.4 avg.) and two scores in 153 games (134 starts). Over the course of his career, Odoms posted the most receptions and receiving yards among all NFL tight ends while only Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Dave Casper (50) recorded more receiving touchdowns. His 14.5 receiving average is also the third highest among pure tight ends with at least 350 catches in NFL history, trailing only Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Jackie Smith and former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski. A key member of the Broncos first Super Bowl team in 1977, Odoms was part of the first four playoff seasons (1977-79, '83) in team history. He also helped the Broncos to their first playoff win in 1977, catching five receptions and the key go-ahead 30-yard score in the second half of the 34-21 win against the Steelers in the 1977 AFC Divisional Round. A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Odoms has also been inducted into the University of Houston's Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame in 2024. He was born March 1, 1950.
