Reed Burckhardt enters his second season as assistant general manager and fifth year overall with the Denver Broncos in 2026. He was hired by the club on May 11, 2022.
In his 18th season in the NFL, Burckhardt joined the Broncos after spending the previous 13 seasons with Minnesota, performing various scouting and personnel roles. He served as the Vikings' director of pro scouting in 2021 after working as assistant director of pro scouting (2020) and pro scout (2017-19) during the previous four seasons.
Prior to his duties as a pro scout, Burckhardt was a college/area scout, covering the Northeast/Atlantic region of the country. In addition, Burckhardt also spent two seasons as the club's BLESTO Scout, which is a national scouting service used by NFL teams.
Burckhardt began his tenure with Minnesota in 2009 as a football operations and personnel department assistant.
A three-year letterwinner at South Dakota State from 2003-07, Burckhardt played quarterback and was a contributor on special teams. He was part of a team that won the 2007 Great West Football Conference title following the football program's transition from Division II to Division I FCS.
Burckhardt graduated from SDSU in 2008 with a degree in business, and following his playing career, he worked as a volunteer assistant with the football program, coaching linebackers and assisting with recruitment. Burckhardt prepped at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School (Tyler, Minn.), where he was a standout two-sport athlete in football and basketball.
A native of Russell, Minn., Burckhardt and his wife, Julia, have one daughter, Cecelia.
