Chaz McKenzie enters his sixth year with the Denver Broncos in 2026 and his fifth as Northeast area scout. He joined the Broncos in 2021, working as a personnel intern through the NFL's Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship program.
Focusing exclusively on college scouting in his current role, McKenzie is tasked with evaluating prospects from all Northeast area institutions while navigating travel, executing school visits and attending games. He was also responsible for studying and grading all 2025 draft-eligible inside linebackers.
In his first season with the club, McKenzie assisted the personnel department in the evaluation of college and pro players, while attending pro days for 2022 draft-eligible prospects. Preceding his time with the Broncos, McKenzie spent two seasons (2019-20) with his alma mater, Central Washington University, serving as a recruiting coordinator/coaching assistant.
A native of Federal Way, Wash., McKenzie was a walk on at CWU prior to the start of the 2016 NCAA football season. He was a two-time team captain (2018, '19) and earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference honors as a safety in 2019.
McKenzie appeared in 30 games over three seasons (2017-19) for the Wildcats, totaling 92 tackles (55 solo), 0.5 sacks (4 yds.), five interceptions (42 yds.), eight pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two blocked kicks.
