Carrie Walton Penner is in her first year as Owner of the Denver Broncos in 2022 as part of the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group. In her role, she is actively engaged with Broncos ownership and executives on all matters related to the organization.

Involved in education research, evaluation, advocacy and philanthropy for more than 20 years, Walton Penner has an extensive background in education, mental health and media to help achieve greater equity for youth and underserved communities. She has advised many nonprofit organizations on matters that include strategic planning, funder and grantee relationship building, organizational transitions and effective governance for high-impact philanthropy.

Walton Penner chairs the Walton Family Foundation K-12 Education Program Committee and serves on the boards of The Aspen Institute and KIPP Foundation. She also is a member of the Stanford University Board of Trustees.

Additionally, Walton Penner's work through investments in founder-led, early-stage companies and support for non-profit organizations seeks to address mental health access and inequities. Walton Penner has helped elevate voices traditionally unheard in media through development and production of documentaries.

Her passion for equity was ignited during her college tenure at Georgetown University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in economics and history. There, she witnessed firsthand the significant quality difference in the U.S. public education system while tutoring high school students in Washington, D.C.

Following her undergraduate tenure at Georgetown, Walton Penner earned dual master's degrees in program evaluation and administration and policy analysis from Stanford's Graduate School of Education.

She is passionate about outdoor sports and is an avid hiker and skier.
