Joining the Broncos after spending the 2024 season in New Orleans, Maalouf helped the Saints rank fifth in punt return average (12.5), sixth in kickoff return average against (26.0) and eighth in punt return average against (7.6) last year. Additionally, he helped special teamer J.T. Gray be named All-Pro for the second time in his career after earning second-team honors from the Associated Press.
Maalouf spent the 2022 and '23 seasons at the University of Miami as a special teams analyst, where he helped kicker Andrew Borregales to first-team All-ACC honors while return specialist Brashard Smith was named second-team all-conference in 2023. He also helped the Hurricanes special teams unit rank second in the nation in kick return average (26.9) in 2022 as well as 13th in kick return average (24.0) and No. 16 in points per game (8.5) in 2023.
Before his two seasons in Miami, Maalouf spent two years with the Minnesota Vikings as special teams coordinator and led their special teams unit to a Top-10 ranking in kick return yards against (9th, 1,197) while helping kicker Dan Bailey to three NFC Player of the Week nominations. In 2019, punter Britton Colquitt tallied the sixth-best net punting average (41.8) in the NFL while recording no touchbacks, becoming just the fourth punter since 1991 to do so.
Maalouf spent six seasons as assistant special teams coach with the Miami Dolphins prior to his time with Minnesota, where he worked with special teams coordinator/assistant head coach Darren Rizzi. During Maalouf's time in Miami, the Dolphins ranked in the Top-10 of Rick Gosselin's annual NFL special teams rankings three times, including a fourth-place ranking in 2018.
From 2013-18, Miami ranked in near the top of the league in punts inside of the 20-yard line (6th—181), punt return yards against (6th—2,186), punting average (9th—45.9) and kickoff return yards against (T-9th—4,207). He also assisted punter Brandon Fields to second-team All-Pro honors by the Associated Press in 2013 after punting 85 times for 4,150 yards (48.8 avg. / 42.4 net) with 33 punts inside the 20-yard line and seven touchbacks.
Prior to his time with the Dolphins, Maalouf spent one season as the special teams coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts in 2012, where his special teams unit recorded a kickoff return and punt return touchdown in the same season for just the sixth time in team history. Punter Pat McAfee also had a strong season in 2012, finishing third in the AFC and fifth in the NFL in punting average (47.9) while setting franchise records in punting average (47.9), net punting average (40.3), 50.0-yard average games (5) and tied the franchise record for punts inside the 20 (26).
Maalouf spent four seasons as assistant special teams coach with Baltimore (2008-11) before joining the Colts, where he helped the unit rank fourth in net punting average (38.8) and sixth in kickoff return average (24.1). With the Ravens, he oversaw the development of kicker Billy Cundiff, who was named first-team All-Pro by the AP in 2010 after making 26-of-29 field goals and connecting on all 39 PAT attempts for 117 points.
First entering the NFL in 2004 as a scouting administrator with the Cleveland Browns, Maalouf transitioned to special teams quality control coach with the club from 2005-06. In his final season with the Browns, he helped returner Josh Cribbs to 1,545 total return yards, ranking third in the entire league.
Maalouf spent two seasons as an assistant offensive line coach and graduate assistant at Rutgers University (2002-03) and one year as assistant offensive line coach at Fordham University (2001) prior to his stint in the NFL. He began his coaching career as an assistant offensive line coach at his alma mater—Baldwin-Wallace University—in 2000.
Maalouf played three seasons as an offensive guard at Baldwin-Wallace (1997-1999) where he was a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection.
