Evan Rothstein enters his second season with the Denver Broncos and first as the director of game management/assistant QBs in 2026. He was hired on March 6, 2025.
In his first season with the Broncos in 2025 as director of game management/OL assistant, Rothstein helped Denver's offense rank fifth among all AFC teams in points per game (23.6) while also ranking fourth in total yards per game (342.6) and passing yards per game (223.9). He also helped the Broncos tie the NFL record for most one-score wins in a season (11) as well as setting a new record for most comeback victories by a team in a season (12).
Rothstein helped oversee one of the best offensive lines in the NFL that ranked first in pass block efficiency (89.2) and sacks allowed (7) while also ranking eighth in pressures allowed (159), per Pro Football Focus. He also assisted both tackle Garett Bolles and guard Quinn Meinerz in garnering first-team All-Pros accolades by the Associated Press while also earning their first career Pro Bowl nods.
With Rothstein's help in 2025, the Broncos produced their 16th division title in team history and their first appearance in the AFC Championship game since the 2015 season.
With 20 years of coaching experience—including 14 years at the NFL level—Rothstein previously served in multiple capacities with the New England Patriots from 2021-24. With the Patriots, he served as assistant quarterbacks coach (2023-24)—adding the title of director of game management in 2024—as well as offensive assistant (2022) and research and analysis/coaching assistant (2021).
In 2024, Rothstein helped with the development of rookie quarterback Drake Maye, who finished the season completing 225-of-338 passes (66.6%) or 2,276 yards with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions (88.1 rtg.).
Rothstein got his start in the NFL with the Detroit Lions from 2012-20, where he worked two seasons as the team's special teams quality control coach (2012-2013) before becoming the team's special projects coach in 2014. Rothstein was then promoted to an offensive assistant/research & analysis role from 2015-2017, followed by three seasons as the team's head coach assistant/research & analyst coach.
Prior to breaking into the NFL, Rothstein spent six seasons at the collegiate level. He spent two seasons (2010-11) as the offensive quality control coach for Syracuse and one season (2009) as an intern in the video operations department.
As an undergraduate at SUNY Cortland, Rothstein began his coaching career with the Red Dragons where he served as a student assistant coach from 2006-08 and offensive line coach in 2010 briefly before returning to Syracuse. He graduated from SUNY Cortland with a bachelor of science in sport management in 2009 as well as a master of science in sport management in 2012.
A native of Merrick, N.Y., Evan Rothstein and his wife, Carol, have two daughters, Emma and Jaqueline, and one son, Ryan.
