Watching and Waiting

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. –A 13-3 regular season earned the Broncos a bye through this weekend's Wild Card Round, however their Divisional Round opponent – whoever it may be – will be playing this weekend and the Broncos will get the chance to watch those teams battle it out on television.

Each Bronco has a different strategy for how they'll watch the games this weekend. Some of them will be glued to their televisions, while others will just stay updated on the progress from afar.

"It's more of an individual thing," tight end Julius Thomas said of whether he will watch the games with his teammates or by himself. "It'll be the first time in a couple of weekends that guys with families get to spend some time with their families and stuff like that. I'm pretty sure that we'll all be anxiously watching to see how those games end up."

Safety David Bruton said on Monday that if he wants to watch the Chiefs, Chargers or Colts, there is already game film at his disposal, so watching them this weekend won't be his highest priority.

"I generally try to stay away from football when it's not work," Bruton said. "But since it is the playoffs, I will definitely catch a half of it, at least— if not the whole thing— and just see what we're up against."

Cornerback Chris Harris Jr. said that he would relax during the games but once the Broncos know who they'll be playing, that's when the real preparation begins.

Safety Mike Adams said that he too will be starting the process of getting ready for next Sunday this weekend.

"I'm going to be glued in to see who we have and then once we see who have I'm right on the film and seeing what we have to do to get that 'W,'" he said.

No matter how each player goes about watching the games this weekend, they'll be taking the time to rest and get healthy for the week ahead.

"I think each guy will do it differently," Thomas said. "Some guys might break out the notepads and the pens but we're going to get those games and we're going to study the team that we have to play extensively next week. So for me, I'm just going to take it as an opportunity to rest up a little bit, get a little ahead, jumpstart on film study for the team that we end up playing.

"And then, most importantly, just enjoy watching playoff football. We enjoy watching just as much as you guys."
