Receiver Added to Practice Squad

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. –The Broncos signed rookie wide receiver Chad Bumphis to the practice squad Tuesday after the departure of Tavarres King to Carolina.

The 5-foot-10, 202-pound Bumphis was originally signed as a college free agent out of Mississippi State. He took part in Dolphins training camp and he finished second on the team with nine catches for 138 yards during the preseason. He was waived by the club on August 31.

Bumphis was a three-year starter for the Bulldogs and a four-year letterman. He started every game in his last two collegiate seasons and set career marks his senior year with 58 catches for 922 yards and 12 touchdowns.

In his junior season, Bumphis had three receiving touchdowns and a punt return touchdown.

As a freshman he was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Bumphis is from Tupelo, Miss., and attended Tupelo High School, where he racked up 2,034 receiving yards, 1,348 rushing yards and 568 passing yards. He earned All-State honors as a senior.
