Broncos sign RB Stewart, waive Bibbs

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos signed running back Jeremy Stewart to their active roster and waived running back Kapri Bibbs, the team announced Saturday.

Stewart (5-11, 215 pounds) is a third-year player who appeared in 17 games (0 starts) during his first two NFL seasons with Oakland after signing with Philadelphia as a college free agent in 2012 from Stanford University. He was signed to the Broncos' practice squad on Oct. 8 after competing with the Raiders during the preseason.

His career totals include 27 rushes for 103 yards (3.8 avg.) with one touchdown and 10 receptions for 68 yards (6.8 avg.). He also recorded five tackles on special teams in addition to returning eight kickoffs for 138 yards (17.3 avg.).A four-year contributor during his collegiate career at Stanford, Stewart rushed for 920 yards and 14 touchdowns on 209 carries (4.4 avg.) for the Cardinal. He attended Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, La., and was born on Feb. 17, 1989.

Stewart wears jersey No. 27.
