Broncos name T.C. McCartney as quarterbacks coach

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have named T.C. McCartney as the team's quarterbacks coach, Head Coach Vic Fangio announced Wednesday.

McCartney has four years of NFL experience after working as an offensive assistant/quality control coach for the San Francisco 49ers (2015, 2017-18) and Cleveland Browns (2014).

He also has four years of collegiate experience between LSU and Colorado.

At LSU, McCartney worked with players like Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice, who are both now in the NFL.

Then, at Colorado, McCartney spent two seasons as an offensive graduate assistant for former head coaches Jon Embree and Mike MacIntyre.

McCartney spent the last two years working with the Broncos' new Offensive Coordinator Rich Scangarello in San Francisco, where the two helped the 49ers rank 10th in passing yards during that time frame.

The Broncos' new quarterbacks coach has family ties to Colorado; he is the son of former CU quarterback Sal Aunese and the grandson of former CU head coach Bill McCartney.
