ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — After racking up 5.5 sacks in October, Bradley Chubb has been named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Month.

Chubb hit his stride beginning with a Week 6 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. He tallied three sacks against Jared Goff, then added two more against Josh Rosen five days later when the Broncos played the Cardinals.

The fifth-overall pick tallied his lone strip sack of the season the first time he brought down Rosen.

With his performance against the Cardinals, Chubb became the first Broncos rookie to record multiple sacks in consecutive games since Elvis Dumervil did that in 2009.

Chubb added a half sack to close out the month when he met Von Miller at Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The NC State product is now on a three-game sack streak and is the first rookie since Aldon Smith to record at least 5.5 sacks in a three-game span.

But Chubb's performance was impressive for a player of any age, as he trailed only Aaron Donald and Dee Ford in sacks during October.

The rest of Chubb's game was similarly solid.

He closed the month with five starts, 16 tackles (13 solo), 13 pressures, eight quarterback hits, five tackles for loss and a pass defensed.

With seven total sacks on the season, Chubb has a three-sack lead on the next closest rookies, Darius Leonard and Marcus Davenport.

And should Chubb continue to rack up quarterback takedowns, he may challenge the all-time rookie sack record. Jevon Kearse set the record with 14.5 sacks in 1999, and Chubb is on pace to come within a half-sack of that mark.

If Chubb can do that, we could be talking about a much bigger individual award at the end of the 2018 season.
