Week 9 Broncos fantasy preview

After a convincing win against the Packers at home Sunday night, the Broncos head to Indianapolis to take on Andrew Luck and the Colts. This matchup bodes well for a good number of Broncos on your fantasy squad. Sunday will mark just the second trip back to Indy as a visitor for Peyton Manning. In 2013, he shredded them for 389 yards and three scores. Manning should be able to move the offense up and down the field against a Colts defense that has allowed 14 passing TDs and an average of 288 yards through the air heading into Week 9. Consider Manning a top-10 start in seasonal formats. He also deserves strong consideration on DraftKings with his $6,300 salary.

The ground game was strong last week, picking up chunks of yardage on seemingly every carry. The backfield has a great chance of continued fantasy success this Sunday. Ronnie Hillman landed in the end zone twice against the Packers in Week 8 and now has at least 20 touches in two straight contests. Up next is an enticing matchup versus a Colts defense that has allowed more than 22 fantasy points per game to running backs. C.J. Anderson was impressive last week, as well, showing plenty of spark on his way to over 100 yards and a touchdown. With a DraftKings salary of only $4,100, Anderson is a high-upside daily fantasy play.

The Colts have given up the eighth-most fantasy points to wide receivers, as if you needed another reason to have Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders in your lineup this week. They are the eighth- and ninth-highest priced receivers on DraftKings at $7,500 and $7,300, respectively. Thomas is coming off an impressive eight-catch, 168-yard performance and now has the sixth-most receiving yards in the league. Sanders has only one game with fewer than 65 receiving yards on the season and his consistency makes him a high-floor player. In a high-volume passing attack that averages 38 attempts per game, Thomas and Sanders have additional upside in Point Per Reception formats as well. Either receiver will make a strong building block at the position in your DraftKings contests, which is PPR.

Denver added another target for Peyton Manning on Monday when they traded for tight end Vernon Davis. The change of scenery to a contender could be exactly what Davis needs to revitalize his fantasy value. The veteran has the type of athleticism and explosiveness to be a difference-maker and he should quickly ascend to the third option in the passing attack behind Thomas and Sanders. Check your league's waiver wire and add Davis if you need help at the position. He has the potential to be a TE1 for the remainder of the season. If he is a full go for this week's matchup, he will also make a very intriguing DraftKings option at $2,800. In addition to cost-effective upside, that play would afford you plenty of salary cap flexibility. Owen Daniels caught all three of his targets for 44 yards against the Packers and should remain part of the offensive game plan. Despite the presence of Davis, Daniels is still on the fantasy radar as a TE2.

The Broncos' number-one ranked fantasy defense is a weekly must-start and a date with the Andrew Luck-led Colts squad is no different. After all, they did just limit Aaron Rodgers, one of the best QBs in the game, to just 77 passing yards. They are at a value at $3,000 on DraftKings, averaging 16 DraftKings points per game. It is going to be an extremely tough fantasy matchup for all of the Colts skill position players. It is hard to recommend any of them as daily fantasy options against the Broncos' stout defense. Brandon McManus has made at least one field goal in every game this year, including five from 50-plus yards. Expect his fantasy dominance to continue.

In addition to starting your Broncos in seasonal leagues, it is also a great week to build around them on DraftKings. Stacking Peyton Manning with either Demaryius Thomas or Emmanuel Sanders could be a very lucrative decision. If you are looking to go with a more unconventional stack, try the Broncos defense and C.J. Anderson.
