The Squeeze: Madden ratings, mechanical bulls and babies

Good morning, #BroncosCountry -

Happy Tuesday! Here are four things to get caught up on.

1. Marshall an example of improved Madden ratings

Perhaps you saw yesterday Von Miller earning the top OLB rating in EA Sports' Madden 16?

So, it's probably a good time to revisit this in-depth piece from Fivethirtyeight.com from February that dives into how Madden NFL player ratings are created — and changed. For the past versions of the Madden NFL game, users have been able to upload updated rosters with player ratings reflecting their progression (or digression) through the season.

One case study featured inside linebacker Brandon Marshall's rise in ratings in the 2015 game.

"When "Madden NFL 15" shipped, the third-year linebacker (Marshall) had an overall rating of 64 and was buried on Denver's bench," writes Neil Paine. "But after an injury to Danny Trevathan in August, Marshall joined the Broncos' starting lineup. After he put together four straight games with a Pro Football Focus grade of +1.0 or better by midseason, Marshall was rated 75 overall with vastly increased awareness, tackling, zone coverage and play recognition ratings. By Week 14, he carried an 81 overall rating, up a league-high 17 from where he'd started the season."

2. Jackson expecting baby girl

Defensive end Malik Jackson announced that he is expecting a baby girl, Nahla. Congratulations, Malik!

3. Sanders rides a bull

With just a couple days of freedom left until training camp begins, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders let out some steam on a mechanical bull.

4. In case you missed it …

Shane Ray plans to be "full-go" when training camp starts.

Sambrailo, O-line have been at work for weeks.

Peyton Manning thrilled to have Demaryius Thomas back for camp.
