1. 'For Mamma'
Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has had his fair share of ups and downs in life. At the age of 11, Thomas' mother Katina Smith was incarcerated, leaving him and his sisters as orphans in their rural Georgia town.
On Monday the Player’s Tribune published an inspiring essay by Thomas about his struggles and determination — and how his life changed when President Barack Obama this summer commuted his mother's sentence.
Recently, I've been getting asked a lot of questions about my mother. It's a little bit overwhelming. Her story is complicated. But this is what I want you to know about my mamma: She loved me. That's the most important thing in the world.
