That's What He Said: Clady, Trevathan

Tackle Ryan Clady

On how difficult it was not to play last year"It was a tough situation to be in. I just took it with a grain of salt, trying to get my shoulder 100 percent and I've just been working ever since to get the foot right."

On how he thought Chris Clark did in his place last year"He did well. We had been working the last three years or four years since he's been here. We've both been improving. He's definitely improved as a player since he got here."

On Orlando Franklin moving to guard"I think it's a good look. He played guard before in college and he has that power to be at guard to get the job done. I think he will be able to move quite well." On being one of the longest-tenured players on the team
"It is definitely different for sure to be the longest-tenured. Time flies by here. I definitely have to step up as far as a leadership role. I'm more of a lead-by-example type of guy on the field. But I'll work on that for sure."

On where he's at with his rehab"I'm getting able to do most of the things in the weight room and running – not quite full speed, but definitely running so far."

On the addition of DeMarcus Ware"It'll definitely be a little different, a little bit more experienced. I'm definitely excited to practice against him and try to improve my game as we go on this year."

Linebacker Danny Trevathan

On getting back to work
"I'm just happy all-around. We've got a new group of guys. We've got great guys that had been additions to this team. It's been a long time since I've been in here, and I just feel like it's well-needed. This workout that we're doing, it's getting us prepared for the 2014 season, which is going to be a great season for us. We'll go ahead and showcase what we can do in this offseason, how much work we're putting out here."

On stepping up as a leader
"It's my job as a linebacker to be a leader. I take pride in being a leader and taking on the challenge of getting these guys ready. I kind of had to wait and sit back and wait my turn. It's been an honor just to play alongside of guys who taught me how to be a leader. Now it's time for me to showcase how great of a leader I can be."

If there's a team he wants to play in Week 1"I'll play anyone. That's my mindset. I'm down to face anybody they put on that schedule. You never know who is going to be on our schedule, but whoever is on there – we're going to have to play our best game against them."

On whether he takes pride in being a three-down linebacker"A lot of people used to say I was too small, this and that. It helped me feed off of that. For me to stay right here is a testimony to guys that are a little undersized and all that. You can play in this league. This league is constantly changing. You have to be able to run and hit as well as be a little physical. It is an honor to be out there on the field and I'm going to stay out there as long as we can."

On what he looks for when the schedule comes out"What time we play. That's it (laughing)."

On whether he's watched the film from Super Bowl XLVIII"Oh yeah. I recorded that game and I watched it a lot. But, it's not what I could do then, it's what I can do now. In the offseason, that's all I thought about – get back there. The odds are against us and I like the odds against us. They've been against me my whole life. For us to get there, it's going to take some hard work. But we're definitely willing to put that forward,"

On the linebacker corps"It's going to be a great show. We have some great guys, we have some great heads on our shoulders. We have some guys that have real God-given ability and can really play this game of football."
