ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips is back to work -- and despite Head Coach Gary Kubiak's suggestion that he go home and rest, he is going through his normal Monday routine. "He's sitting in the back of the meeting just now, he's got a big smile on his face," Kubiak said. "He's sore, but he's feeling good, and back at it." "I'm trying to get him to go home and rest a little bit today; he doesn't want to do that. But he's good. He's himself today."Phillips was released from a Denver-area hospital Sunday night after undergoing an examination following a second-quarter hit he absorbed on the sideline from Chargers running back Melvin Gordon, who inadvertently ran into Phillips during Bradley Roby's interception return. "He just got the heck knocked out of him," Kubiak said. "It looked like the back of his head hit the ground pretty hard. Just a scary situation."Gordon subsequently apologized for the hit. Kubiak said Phillips was talking and responsive while being treated on the sideline. As he was wheeled out of the stadium, he gave the "No. 1" signal with his right hand, with both arms and both legs strapped down to keep him stable. The notion of moving Phillips upstairs to the coaching booth arose Monday at Kubiak's press conference. "We'll see how Wade's feeling," Kubiak replied. "From what I'm seeing today, he's himself today, and the fact that he's battling with me today when I'm trying to get him to go home and get some rest makes me know he's back to his old self. So we'll see how he's doing." ON THE FIELD, running back Devontae Booker emerged from Sunday with what Kubiak termed a "sore" shoulder, but his ability to finish the game with 84 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown from 20 total touches despite the injury offered a sign that Booker will be fine going forward. "The fact that he was able to come back and play through it, I think is a good sign," Kubiak said. "So we'll see." Kubiak said Booker will be "day-to-day."
