Injury Report: Mark Barron, DeMarcus Walker could be activated off IR later this season

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Linebacker Mark Barron and defensive end DeMarcus Walker may be able to return from injured reserve later this season, Head Coach Vic Fangio said Thursday.

The two players were placed on injured reserve earlier this week with hamstring and calf injuries, respectively.

Barron, who has not appeared in a game since signing with the team in August, suffered his injury on Sept. 4. Walker was injured during the Broncos' Week 2 game in Pittsburgh.

"Both of them have a chance to come back this season," Fangio said. "Both of them have three-plus-week injuries, so we put them on the IR for that reason, plus we needed the spots, obviously, to bring some guys up. Barron's hamstring just hasn't gotten better. In fact, in the rehab it's gotten moved to a different spot. We just need to do our best to get him back and ready to go."

Under the NFL's new IR rules, Barron and Walker must spend at least three weeks on injured reserve. There is no limit to the number of players a team can activate from injured reserve.

On the active roster, Drew Lock (right shoulder), Davontae Harris (hamstring) and Phillip Lindsay (toe) all missed practice for the second consecutive day this week. Harris and Lindsay again worked on a side field, while Lock watched the quarterbacks.

Bradley Chubb also did not practice, but his absence was not injury related, according to the team's participation report.

During the media-viewing portion of practice, Chubb watched as his teammates stretched and then stood with the outside linebackers group as they practiced.

Chubb had previously received a rest day during training camp as he worked back from an ACL injury in his left knee. Chubb wore a sleeve over his left leg on Thursday.

Shelby Harris (neck), Jerry Jeudy (ribs) and Trey Marshall (hip/wrist) remained limited, while Jurrell Casey (elbow) improved to a full participant.
