INDIANAPOLIS –Head Coach John Fox met the press as the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis opened on Wednesday morning.
He took the time to update the statuses of several Broncos who dealt with injuries in 2012:
Safety Quinton Carter:"Well Quinton unfortunately got injured and had knee surgery. His rehab has gone fantastic. Our medical people – Greek and the docs – do a great job. I just saw him actually before we left to come over here. His rehab is going great."
Tackle Ryan Clady"He's going to be another guy that probably might not be until camp before they start getting in on full-go football. Like a lot of offseason surgeries, we'll evaluate it as we go week to week."
Guard Chris Kuper"A little bit like the guys we talked about before. He had another surgery. He's doing rehab, and hopefully, and I'm sure that at the start of the season he'll be 100 percent."
Quarterback Demaryius Thomas:"Even as far back as almost this time a year ago, his type of injury – a lot was made of the neck and the surgeries and all those things. The reality is that it is kind of a nerve situation and it takes a while for nerves to grow. He's getting better every day. I think he'll be health-wise, even better this year."
"I'm not that much of an expert, to say the least. But I think this year he'll have a full offseason to really use his whole body to get ready and not just the arm and the neck and some of those rehab things. He can actually work out now. I think he'll just get stronger and better, and hopefully our whole team does."
Center J.D. Walton"His rehab's going great. He may not be able to get into full-time football until we get to camp, so some of the offseason things, he might be restricted. We've got a few guys that have had offseason surgery. He's definitely the starter, and that's the way he'll start the season when we form back up. Again, like everywhere, everybody has to compete, but that's the starting point."
